Cisco Merel

Panamanian plastic artist, Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ganexa University of Panama. He has participated in workshops and international residencies such as the Global Fresh collective Workshop in New York (2009), Culture France Scholarship, Cité International des Arts, Paris (2010), and the Pilotenkueche Residence, in Leipzig, Germany (2011).

His work has been exhibited in important galleries and museums in Panama and the world such as the Havana Biennial; Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, TCU, Texas; the BMOCA, Colorado; and the Chinese American Museum, Los Angeles.

In Cisco Merel’s work, multiple influences are combined together with local references to define his universe. His language is based on a vocabulary of forms that start from geometry and typography, together with a precise and systematic color code, to build images and spaces in multiple supports such as painting, sculpture, non-traditional materials and installation. , as well as projects in architecture and public space.
