Carlos Salas is a Colombian painter recognized for his profound exploration of abstraction and materiality in contemporary art. His work is characterized by a constant research on color, texture and form, seeking to express emotions and concepts through the interaction between matter and space.
He studied architecture at Los Andes University in Bogotá and later moved to Paris to study at the École des Beaux-Arts, where he delved into the techniques of painting and sculpture. This training allowed him to merge architectural concepts with artistic expressions, enriching his work with a multidisciplinary perspective.
Salas’ artworks have been the subject of numerous solo and group exhibitions in renowned galleries and museums. In 2016, he presented the exhibition “The Heart of the Matter” at White Box NYC, where he explored themes related to materiality and emotion, consolidating his position in the contemporary art scene. His work has also been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in Bogota and is part of prestigious international collections.
Throughout his career, Salas has maintained a constant reflection on the relationship between human beings and their environment, using abstraction to question and reinterpret reality. His commitment to the exploration of new forms and materials makes him a key figure in understanding the evolution of abstract art in Colombia and Latin America.
